The Business committee is the link between Volvox & Alkymisten’s members and the business world.


Volvox & Alkymisten’s Business committee represents bachelor’s and master’s students in biology chemistry, and biotechnology at NTNU in Trondheim. Our task is to be the link between students and the business world.

The committee shall promote what we as students possess in terms of competence after completing our studies withing the various fields we represent. As students studying scientific fields, we go in depth in order to understand the laws of nature and it’s composition, and our knowledge is a resource both research, and business can benefit greatly from. Our expertise is relevant within a broad spectrum of industries - from research on pharmaceuticals to work in farming industry, and much more!

The Business committe makes it easy for your company to come into contact with science students with high academic knowledge within chemistry, bioogy, and biotechnology. The Business committee is a part of Volvox & Alkymisten, one of the largest student associations at NTNU, with over 800 members. Through us, you will be able to reach students from a broad spectrum of fields of study.

Our members can contribute with important competence within cell and molecular biology, physiology, systems biologi, biochemistry, biochemistry, biocatalysis, bio and organic synthesis, analytical chemistry and instrument analysis, genetics, marine biologi and aquaculture, ecology, evolution, bioinformatics, environmental toxicology, natural environmental chemistry, natural resource management, inorganic materials, structure chemistry, fysical and quantum chemistry, and more!

What can we offer to you?

The Business committe wishes to be a link between you and the students. We help you come into contact with the right people, who have the relevant competence you need.

Throughout the year we arrange several company visits in cooperation with companies, where you get the opportunity to market yourselves. We organize a plan based on your wishes, and take care of promotion ahead of the visit.

We also have the opportunity to share news, job advertisements, etc. with our members through our channels on social media. Our facebook page has over 780 followers and our instagram page has over 390 followers. Details can be discussed if a partnership is established.

Company presentations

We regularly organize presentations with companies, organisations, or agencies. It usually happens by the company coming to visit us, and telling us about their company, their projects, and career opportunities. This is a golden opportunity for you to profile yourselves as a future workplace, and the students get a unique insight into what opportunities exist.

We tailor the program in dialogue with you as a company, and take care of the practical details regarding premises, registration, and organisation. We also actively market the presentation via our website and social media, as well as notices at the university.

The price of a standard company presentation is 9000 kr. In addition, it is common for the company to cover food for the public (e.g. pizza).

The career day, VIVO

VIVO is will held at Gløshaugen every autumn. This is an excellent opportunity for companies to meet students of chemistry, biology, and biotechnology from all levels in the studies. The companies will be on stands, there will be lectures, and more events to create contact between companies and the students. At VIVO you can learn about you opportunities for master's theses, choice of study area, and/or future jobs. The stage will also be set for some master's students to promote themselves and their work to the companies that want to listen. Student assignments

There is an increasing interest in external bachelor's and master's theses, that is, a task in collaboration between the student, NTNU, and a company. If your company is looking for such collaboration, the Business committee will be happy to help you find the right candidate!

Get in touch with your future employers

We in the business committee want to give you as a student insight into which opportunities you have after completing your studies. Our goal is to give you an insight into where your skills can be used in working life, and to put you in contact with people who can answer exactly what you want to know when it comes to your career.

Throughout the year we organize company presentations, company visits, the career day VIVO, My Master, Alumni evening, and various other events. Keep up to date with our events in the calendar.

Make your way into working life a little easier by participating at our events, and follow our Facebook-page and Instagram for news or job advertisements!

Company Presentations: Through a company presentation (bedpres) a company wants to present itself to you as a student, and explain how the company works, as well as where your skills can be used. You also get the opportunity to ask your questions directly to the company. The presentation normally ends with a meal afterwards.

The career day, VIVO: VIVO is held at Gløshaugen every autumn. This is the career day for those who study biology, chemistry, or biotechnology. This career day is organized by, and for the students, so we're open to input regarding the desired plan for VIVO. Feel free to contact us with input and questions at VIVO@volvox.no

Other events: The Business committee also organizes company visits, My Master, Almni evening, various lectures, and other events. If you have a good idea for something we can organize, please send us a message on Facebook or Instagram!

Practical information

Registration As a general rule, our events are free, but you have to register in order to be served. Registration takes place here on the website. Check the calendar or link in the facebook event.

Arrive on time: Arrive 10 minutes before the event starts. The doors close at the set starting time.

Do you want to join the Business committee? A voluntary position in the Business committee is both fun and sosial. You get the opportunity to challenge yourself, and learn how to behave profesionally when dealing with business. It also looks great on your CV!

        For alumni

Do you want to present for us? We happily accept alumni to present for our members. This can be on behalf of a company like a company presentation, as part of a research project, or something completely different that our members can benefit from. We are open for suggestions!

Alumni-night The Business comittee every year hosts an alumni night where earlier V&A-students are invited to talk about their journey into working life and some tips for the students. It is facilitated for questions during the presentations and mingling afterwards, in addition to food being served. This is also a nice oppurtunity to meet old friends and maybe go out for a beer or two after the event. Alumni-night is usually hosted the Thursday before Krabbe in February.
